14 National Bioeconomy Clusters signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding in Brussels that aims to support and strengthen the Circular and Sustainable Bioeconomy in Europe.
Cluster SPRING is among the initiators of the initiative, which aims to accelerate the industrialization and commercialization of innovative “biobased” ideas and stimulate Europe’s innovation, competitiveness and resilience through the circular bioeconomy.
Thus the 14 Clusters will work together for the next three years sharing know-how, establishing business relationships, promoting human capital and developing R&D projects for food, industrial and energy applications.
“The circular bioeconomy is a powerful opportunity for innovation, regeneration and sustainable development. It is deeply linked to local resources, is interdisciplinary by nature and links multiple sectors and technologies, leveraging the specificities of territories and integrated supply chains. It is a tool that cannot be missed within a European decarbonization strategy that wants to boost competitiveness. – comments Catia Bastioli President of the Italian Circular Bioeconomy Cluster SPRING – Our Cluster has been a strong promoter of this international Memorandum of Understanding. We hope it can be an additional tool to recognize biorefineries as essential infrastructures of the circular bioeconomy, to accelerate the industrialization and commercialization of biobased products in Europe and Italy to stimulate innovation, competitiveness and resilience of European countries by leveraging their specificities.”
