Advancing Bio-Based Products Certification: A Collaborative Path Towards Sustainability

On Nov. 27, the event“Advancing Bio-Based Products Certification: A Collaborative Path Towards Sustainability,” organized as part of the European BioReCer project, will be held online from 12 to 2 p.m.

In the last year of the project, important advances and developments have been made that will contribute greatly to improving the certification of bio-based products. During the meeting, these advances will be presented and valuable feedback gathered from participants. In addition, the “Biomass Utilization Factor,” a new metric that combines cascading use and production efficiency into a single indicator, useful for analyzing the circularity of materials within the circular bioeconomy, will be explained. Input will also be gathered for a policy brief aimed at influencing policymakers and helping shape future EU policies.

BioReCer strengthens certification systems to foster acceptance of bio-based raw materials and products from bio-waste by both industry and consumers, and aims to improve the competitiveness of the European bio-based economy. The project aims to address the needs of all stakeholders along the value chain of bio-based products. The success of the project depends on the input and collaboration of a wide range of stakeholders, including producers and processors of bio-based raw materials, bio-based industries, certification bodies, policy makers, scientists, consumers and their associations.

Participation in this event will be crucial in contributing to the EU’s transition to a more sustainable economy. It will be an opportunity to stay up-to-date on the project results, monitor its progress, and see how everyone’s contribution can influence its future development.
