SPRING supports the “Raul Gardini Memorial Award” – Edition 2026

SPRING proudly supports the Raul Gardini Memorial Prize – Edition 2026, an initiative of high scientific and cultural value promoted by the Raul Gardini Foundation, in collaboration with the Municipality of Ravenna, the Flaminia Foundation andAlma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna, Ravenna Campus.

The Prize was created with the aim of enhancing the work of young scholars and scholars engaged in the themes of environmental sustainability and the circular bioeconomy, promoting an interdisciplinary approach and a vision of innovation consistent with the legacy and thought of Raul Gardini.

What’s new in the 2026 edition

For the first time, the Prize opens to graduates, doctoral students and research fellows from all Italian and European universities, strengthening the international dimension of the initiative and the dialogue between research, territories and the production system.

The award, worth 7,000 euros, may be allocated to:

  • Co-fund a research period abroad lasting at least six months;
  • or support a start-up or spin-off in the fields of environmental sustainability and circular bioeconomy.

Target audience

For research stay abroad:
Master’s or single-cycle undergraduates, currently doctoral students or research fellows at Italian or European universities, with projects consistent with the themes of the Prize.

For start-ups and spin-offs:
Master’s or single-cycle university graduates from Italian or European universities, aged 32 or under on the call deadline date, with entrepreneurial projects in the areas of environmental sustainability and circular bioeconomy.

Deadlines

  • May 31, 2026, noon – Deadline for submission of applications
  • By July 31, 2026 – Communication of outcomes.

Building a more sustainable future means investing in education, research and the ability to generate positive impact on territories, today in an increasingly European dimension.

By supporting this initiative, SPRING renews its commitment to young talent and the development of the circular bioeconomy.
