BioReCer (Biological Resources Certifications Schemes) aims to evaluate and integrate existing biological resource certification schemes according to the new EU sustainability goals to improve bio-based circular systems.
This will be achieved by including new criteria that align with EU taxonomy and EU business due diligence regulations in guidelines for certification of biological resource sustainability, origin, traceability, and tractability (T&T), and ensuring applicability on an EU and global scale.
By promoting the sustainability and trade of organic resources, BioReCer will increase the added value, use and social acceptance of organic products.
The objectives of the project are:
- Creation of new bio-based value chains that promote the use of bio-based raw materials as secondary raw materials to replace fossil resources;
- Increase industry and consumer acceptance of biodiversity-based value chains, including residual raw materials and waste;
- Support the transition of linear value chains to a biodiversity-based circular economy that offers substantial environmental and economic benefits.
