RIBES responds to the need to improve the adoption of biobased innovations through pioneering governance and business models developed on the convergence of circular bioeconomy, social innovation, and rural development, thus contributing to the transition from a linear to a circular economy in 9 European regions lagging behind in innovation, as shown below.
The objectives of the project are:
- Accelerate the regional transition from linear fossil-based economies to circular and efficient biobased systems;
- Promote greater awareness, governance and social innovation in order to reduce resource consumption and increase the capacity for bio-based innovation in rural/peripheral areas and communities;
- Engage key actors and stakeholders in bio-based innovation at the local scale, ensuring inclusive engagement to stimulate and support social enterprises and entrepreneurs to meet local needs;
- co-create new business and governance models supported by inclusive digital solutions to achieve more informed decision-making, social engagement, and bio-social innovation;
- Establish close multi-actor collaboration with stakeholders, disseminating project results and promoting their use to strengthen science-policy interfaces internationally.
