On 28–29 January, we officially launched the BIOWISE project – Advancing Applied Biotechnology for Sustainable Innovation in Wood, Textile, and Furniture in Higher Education, with the kick-off meeting hosted at the University of Ljubljana.
BIOWISE is an Erasmus+ project, coordinated by the Warsaw University of Life Sciences, aiming to support the transition to bio-based materials in the wood, textile, and furniture sectors. The project equips learners with cutting-edge applied biotechnology skills, integrating bioeconomy and circular economy principles into higher education to reduce reliance on fossil resources, support climate adaptation, and foster a new generation of transdisciplinary researchers, innovators, and entrepreneurs.
The multidisciplinary consortium brings together six European partners:
- Szkoła Główna Gospodarstwa Wiejskiego (SGGW) – Poland (Coordinator)
- University of Ljubljana – Slovenia
- Asociación Empresarial de Investigación Centro Tecnológico del Mueble y la Madera de la Región de Murcia – Spain
- University of Minho – Portugal
- Centro Tessile Cotoniero e Abbigliamento S.p.A. – Italy
- SPRING – Sustainable Processes and Resources for Innovation and National Growth – Italy
The kick-off meeting provided an opportunity for the consortium members to present and discuss the project activities and to outline future actions.
